The Finnish Social and Health Informatics Association (FinSHIA) has organized its Research Days annually since 1998. The purpose of the Research Days has been to
- make the wide area of Finnish research from medical signal processing to the evaluation of social welfare information systems visible
- offer the students of health informatics the possibility to listen to the senior researchers of the field, to make contacts to other researchers in Finland and to get feedback about their research plans
- offer research groups to arrange thematic seminars in connection to a larger event
- promote the co-operation of the research centers of the field in Finland
The events have taken place in the following locations: Kuopio 1998, Turku 1999, Pori 2000, Kajaani 2001, Joensuu 2002, Jyväskylä 2004, Tampere 2005, Mikkeli 2006, Turku 2007, Lahti 2008, Jyväskylä 2009, Tampere 2010, Lahti 2011, Helsinki 2012, Turku 2013, Jyväskylä 2014, Tampere 2015, Lahti 2016, Helsinki 2017, Jyväskylä 2018, Tampere 2019, and Kuopio 2021.
The papers presented in the Research Days are published in the peer reviewed journal Finnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfare (FinJeHeW). FinSHIA publishes this journal jointly with the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth.
